The Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) has lodged a police report against state DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen over his statement on the spate of recent shooting incidents nationwide.

SUPP central Youth chief Tan Kai urged the relevant authorities to act against Chong's blatant attempt at fear-mongering.

"Such acts, if left unchecked may lead to severe misunderstanding between  the rakyat and the government, and instigate chaos.

"It is clear that the opposition has no other topics to discuss so they are trying to spin another fairytale.

"This time, however, they have gone too far and must answer for their carelessness and negligence," he said at the Kuching police headquarters today.

Chong was quoted in a Sarawak English daily, as saying that the BN government deliberately allowed a spike in criminal activities to create a situation conducive to introduce preventive laws.
