Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob has confirmed that he would not contest for any of the Umno supreme council posts at the next national party polls.

However, he would defend his position as Bentong division head.  

Adnan, who is also Pahang Umno chairperson, said he would not stop other leaders including from the Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings to join the race.

"I want to focus on empowering Pahang Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in preparation for the next general election," he told reporters at an Aidilfitri gathering with local graduate council members at Kompleks Yayasan Pahang, Kuantan.

Meanwhile, he said the state Umno would hold more discussions with representatives of the Chinese, Indian and Orang Asli communities to get their feedback on empowering the party.

Razali not contesting veep post

Umno Youth vice-chief Razali Ibrahim today denied he would contest for the party's vice-president post at the Umno election

this October.

He said rumours saying that he would vie for the post was made by certain quarters following his decision to defer making an announcement on whether he would contest for post in the Umno election.

"It is not the time yet for me to contest the post and it never crosses my mind," he told a media conference after the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a St John Ambulance Malaysia building in Muar.

Razali, who is Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, however, said he was willing to consider contesting for one of the posts in the Umno supreme council.

So far, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman had expressed his intention to vie for the Umno vice-presidency, while former Malacca chief minister Mohd Ali Rustam and former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Mohd Isa Abdul Samad had hinted of their intention to contest the post.
