The new rector of Kolej Universiti Insaniah (Kuin) is someone very experienced, competent and have leadership qualities befitting a university rector.

Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir said that the rector, to be announced soon, was among seven candidates interviewed for the post by a special committee recently.

“All the seven candidates interviewed are great. It is difficult to pick out the best of the lot,” he told reporters after meeting with state and federal government employees at Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar today to mark his 100 days as the menteri besar.

The job interview was conducted by a special committee comprising academicians and state exco member Tajul Urus Md Zain (chairperson of the education, public works and transport committee) and Azimi Daim (political secretary to the menteri besar).

Mukhriz said that he will meet with Education Ministry officials this afternoon to seek their views and suggestions on the appointment of the new Kuin rector.

He urged the opposition not to raise issues relating to Kuin because they (the former PAS state government) was responsible for the problems now taken over by the Barisan Nasional (BN) state government.

“The opposition should stop doing so because further disclosure of problems  relating to Kuin will only cause embarrassment to them,” he added.
