Five bullets found, DAP rep reports death threat
Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer has lodged a police report over an apparent "death threat" he received this morning.
Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer has lodged a police report over an apparent "death threat" he received this morning.
Rayer lodged the report at the Jelutong police station about 7.50am.
In his report, he said that his nephew found five bullets in a transparent plastic bag in the compound of his house on Jalan Tembaga in Island Park, Green Lane.
Rayer ( left ) has been questioning the police over the shooting of five men in an early morning shootout in Sungai Nibong, Penang, on Monday.
Police have said the men were involved in a recent spate of shootings in Penang, Kedah and in Negeri Sembilan.
On Monday night, Rayer was at the Penang Hospital mortuary, where the families of the five men shot dead on the 11th floor of a serviced apartment block went to identify the bodies.
The families of the five - J Gobinath, 31, R Ramesh, 27, A Vinut, 23, M Suresh, 25, and M Gobinath, 21- are upset that they were executed instead of being apprehended and brought before the court.
Nephew found the bullets
“My nephew found the bullets and passed them to my dad, who later gave them to me,” he said when contacted.
“I am concerned for my family’s safety and has lodged a police report.
“I will leave it to the police to investigate, I don’t want to speculate further.”
When asked if he had photos of the bullets, Rayer said, “Not exactly. The police had taken them.”
Rayer, 42, has two children - a son, 11 and daughter, nine.
His parents live with him in the same house.
His nephew, 11, comes over to his house as Rayer’s wife sends him to school.
Rayer said he also received an sms threat about the same time as he lodged the first police report this morning.
“The message suggests that it is from a rival gang,” Rayer told Malaysiakini .
The sms he received reads:
“Dae pundek u sokong 04, 36 sudah mati 7 orang . Ini gobi sama munna nondi sudah tembak. Last dia bikin sy punye abg cikgu kulim. Itu 7 mati u buat tak tau. U tak da sokong. Skarang kita hantar u punya rumah kacang. Nanti kita hantar ini kacang dkat u punya badan. Kalau u sokong 04 tak da sokong kita. Pundek kalau u berani u bikin repot la pundek kita tengok apa jadi.”
State CID chief Mazlan Kesah confirmed that Rayer had lodged two reports with the police.
He added that other than the report on the live bullets found within the compound of Rayer’s house, the lawyer had also received a death threat via sms.
“The sms threat will be probed under section 507 of the Criminal Procedure Code for criminal intimidation via communication,” Mazlan told the media.
“The live bullets which were discovered by Rayer’s nephew will be probed under the Firearms Act, Section 8, for possession of firearms,” he added.
