Former Kedah menteri besar Azizan Abdul Razak took his oath as the state assemblyperson for Sungai Limau at the intensive care unit of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital where he is convalescing following surgery.

His former press secretary Helmi Khalid said state assembly speaker Md Rozai Safian arrived at the hospital at 12.45pm.

“The whole process took about 15 minutes,” he said when contacted.

Among those present were deputy speaker Azmi Che Husain; state executive council secretary Syed Isa Syed Ibrahim; state legal advisor Anas Ahmad Zakie and Anak Bukit state assemblyperson Amiruddin Hamzah.

It is learnt that oath-taking proceeded smoothly and Azizan used a thumb imprint instead of signing the document as confirmation.

Azizan’s legs were amputated on May 10 due to complications from chronic diabetes and he was treated at the Penang Hospital for three months before being transferred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital last week.
