There are 21,256 unclaimed MyKad at the National Registration Department’s (NRD) offices in Sarawak.

According to a press statement from the Sarawak NRD, unclaimed MyKad was the main problem faced by the agency.

“To overcome this problem, the state NRD has been sending a list of names of holders of unclaimed MyKad every three months to the Residence Office and has also been making local radio announcements on the matter,” said the NRD.

“The NRD has also sent the list of names of holders of unclaimed MyKad to the community leaders if the applicants failed to collect their MyKad after three months from the date of application.

“To facilitate applicants obtaining the MyKad in a day compared to 30 days from the date of application, the MyKad Printing Centre was established at the Miri and Sri Aman NRD, while at the Sibu NRD, the centre will begin its operation this October,” it added.
