The Registrar of Societies Malaysia (ROS) has approved 20 out of 30 applications for new political parties since 2008.

Its director-general, Abdul Rahman Othman, said the department would publish the list of the new political parties next Thursday.

“The new political parties approved have been vetted by the police,” he told reporters at an Aidilfitri open house hosted by the ROS in Nilai today.

He said 13 applications were rejected for various reasons, including not meeting conditions and criteria of a political party.

On the DAP central executive committee (CEC) re-election, Abdul Rahman said he was awaiting details from the party.

“It’s premature for me to make any comments as I have yet to get details from them. I will answer the questions after getting the information,” he said.
