BN Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has suggested that the Chinese-based parties in BN should also merge into a single party.
This follows BN secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s

proposed that all Indian-based parties aligned to the federal ruling coalition should merge to consolidate support from the community.
"I think that it is good. If we want to strengthen BN, the Indian parties can combine and the Chinese parties like MCA and Gerakan can also combine," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said the move would bring about a fresh spirit in the BN.
"I feel it will give a shot in the arm to our component parties. As BN Youth chief, I feel it is a good suggestion," he said.
However, Khairy (right) , who is also Umno Youth chief, said the final decision still rests with the respective parties.
MIC deputy president Dr S Subramaniam was reported as saying today that he welcomes the merger idea, but insisted that other parties come under the umbrella of MIC.
Party treasurer Jaspal Singh said that government policies are more important to recovering BN's support, rather than a merger of parties.
