your say Kee Thuan Chye: The painter Anurendra Jegadeva should not have apologised for his painting, because he has done no wrong. He was producing art, and he used what he thought was appropriate and right to help him express what he wanted to in his art.

It should not have been politicised by anyone. The pressure group Muafakat was obviously being oversensitive. By apologising, Anurendra is giving in to ultra-sensitive elements. It gives them too much face. That won't help the country.

From now on, anyone, especially non-Muslims, using Islamic elements in their art can easily be construed to be insulting Islam. There will be no end to all this ultra-sensitivity.

Cpd85: 'I' is for those idiots who lodged the police report just to cause a nuisance without even getting the feedback from the artist itself. This is idiotic behaviour. Such a move seems to restrict and constrain the creativity of an artist.

And also, the police officers who confiscated such materials are toeing the line of certain parties. Couldn't they see the America flag in the painting?

That is not deemed to be insulting a religion. The artist's explanation should be deemed appropriate for a logical person.

Tholu: Dear Anurendra Jegadeva, you need not to have explained the symbolic meaning of your paintings to a bunch of 'I's (idiots), which would include the police and the complainant himself.

To explain to them the message and the point you were trying to deliver through your art would be like casting pearls before swine.

You should have waited to see what law they would have charged you with (undoubtedly the Sedition Act) and then expose them in court as indisputable and unrivalled idiots.

Malaysian Born: The problem is we are being forced to listen to the opinions of illiterate morons like this Muafakat NGO. One wonders what kind of education they received.

I looked at the artwork carefully and it takes quite a leap to jump to the conclusions that they have made such waves with. These intellectual lightweights should be be dealt with based on their single digit IQs and not given face and taken seriously.

If genuine art has to survive their idiotic perceptions then you might as well use a rubber stamp for art as no unique or genuine art will survive as these fools will see devils and evil under every rock.
