Court cases involving conflict of law between the civil and Syariah laws will be resolved fairly, said Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria.
He said conflict of law could happened in any legal system, including in England.
“The conflict could be resolved through the legal system or politics,” he told reporters after sitting as a panel member of the Kelantan Syariah Appeals Court in Kota Baru today.
Two other panel members were Kelantan syarie chief judge Daud Mohamad and judge Wan Hassan Wan Mohamad.
On conflict in religious conversion, he said, “We have to look at it on a case-by-case basis. We cannot make any speculation or form our own opinion. We will come to a decision after listening to both parties. Otherwise, it is unfair (to one party),” Ariffin said.
He said the Kelantan Syariah Appeals Court did not have any backlog case.
