Nixed - fresh probe into Altantuya murder

your say Wira: Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, if you cannot understand why an investigation is necessary, I, as a layman will tell you. It is because a person had been brutally shot, C4ed and her entry record to this country erased.

There was a strong motive for others to want Altantuya Shaariibuu dead through the testimony that she was speculated as pregnant or that she knew a lot more than she was supposed to, and got herself entangled with people she should have avoided.

The court acquitted the two because the police and the prosecution did a poor job.

Versey: Of course, everyone should respect the findings of the court if it were conducted justly and transparently.

As the Appeals Court ruled that there had been serious misdirections by the Shah Alam High Court judge who heard the case and the two alleged murderers of Altantuya were acquitted, it means the actual culprit is still roaming freely and could be anybody.

So, shouldn't our police and the attorney-general also show respect to the findings of the Appeals Court to get to their task to make amends accordingly and diligently?

Is it not a universally acknowledged fact that the police are duty bound to investigate crime? If our police refuse to perform their duty, can Altantuya's family sue them?

Can the attorney general be sued for such obvious mistakes/negligence, such as the failure to establish the motive of the murder as pointed out by society at large?

Dont Just Talk: Why can't Malaysians accept the fact that the late Altantuya shot herself in the head and placed the C4 explosives to blow herself to smithereens? Case closed, no further action.

Razak Naim: Malaysians should believe that Altantuya died of natural causes. At least that's what we're made to believe because the investigating officers are not interested in proceeding to look for the truth.

Mraz Ikhbal: "Everybody should respect the findings of the court," said our esteemed IGP. I can therefore deem that "everybody" includes him.

The court ruled in favour of the accused and thereby acquitting them, which is tantamount to declaring that they were not the murderers.

So by respecting the court decision, any IGP who is competent should immediately conclude that the murderers are still free out there and that the investigation has therefore yet to conclude.

An IGP who has integrity will respect and vindicate the trust of the nation to hunt the murderers and other criminals, instead of harassing school kids and demonising the opposition.

Onlooker: A gross miscarriage of justice. This is a technical acquittal. I don't think anyone believes the two are not guilty of something here. Clearly further investigation would uncover others who had to be involved, or perhaps there is no will to uncover such unsavoury details?

What the ........!: If nobody is guilty, then who blew up Altantuya? She certainly did not do it to herself.

Naturally, we expect that the police would now be desperate to find the real killer - that is what police do, right? To find the culprits and bring them to justice?

So, why is our top cop not interested in finding the murderer and the motive of the murder? Isn't that his job?

Aries46: The Appeals Court's decision simply means that the actual murderers are somewhere out there.

Khalid's assertions can mean that he does not have what it takes to find the murderers. It may even imply that he'd rather let the murderers go free than to get into his master's bad books.

The court decision infers in no uncertain terms that the police and attorney-general had done a shoddy job - is that beyond Khalid's understanding?

Awakened: As IGP, he should understand that the court made a decision based on facts and evidence.

If the prosecution did not do a good job which resulted in the acquittal of the suspects, it is the duty of the police and prosecution to do a better job so that the murderers are convicted.

In this particular case, I understand that key witness DSP Musa Safri was not brought to court during the trial. Hence, the court made the decision to acquit the accused. What the Appeals Court should do is to order a retrial so that Musa can be brought in.

The prosecution is now appealing to the Federal Court. I hope that the Federal Court will order a retrial.

Anonymous #07521476: Obviously the Altantuya murder case can only be resolved politically. Unless a new regime comes to power, I don't think there is any other way we can solve this crime.

RakyatBiasa: I wonder if Premier Najib Abdul Razak would respect the findings of the Kazakhstan court if a prominent Umno member's daughter is C4ed by her foreign husband in Kazakhstan and no one is charged with her murder?

KB Menon: If the Altantuya case is not resolved satisfactorily, it will forever continue to be an albatross around the nation's neck. A perpetual shame on this nation. A disgrace of international proportions. It's something we can never live down.

Pemerhati: In a Saddam Hussein type of dictatorship, if a person is killed by the dictator or by someone within his close circle, that would be the end of the matter as no one will dare to bring up the matter.

In a false democracy like Malaysia, which is essentially a dictatorship, the top BN people and their collaborators can commit any crime and they will not be brought to justice. If the crime gets highlighted, then the police, the AG, the lawyers and the judiciary will collaborate and ensure that the guilty parties are protected as happened, and is happening, in the Altantuya case.

In both types of dictatorships, the top leaders can get away with murder and any other crime and they will not be brought to justice but the BN leaders think that by using their approach they can fool the people and the world into thinking that they are not as evil as people like Saddam Hussein.

Anthony John: The Court of Appeal's decision means that an incompetent investigation has been done. But we cannot just wish away a dead person.

The least the IGP could have said is we will still keep the files open until we receive further fresh evidence to continue the investigation. The IGP is proving he has been promoted to his level of incompetence.

God Save Us: Each and every citizen of this country with the exception of those in power whose hands are tainted with the ‘execution' of this Mongolian mother/daughter is not satisfied with the whole sham process from investigation to court drama and the expected kangaroo decision.

It was engineered. Even an imbecilic brain would recognise that. But kudos to him as he can still look at himself in the mirror everyday and sleep well every night without a semblance of remorse or guilt and continue to live life without a conscience.
