PKR’s Youth wing has lodged a police report against Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) over its plans to tail the party’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

It said that the move is a breach of the peace and a threat to Anwar and his family’s safety and comfort.

“We hope the police would cooperate by investigating, monitoring and advising, and take appropriate action under the law to stop this NGO or any other party that does not respect Anwar’s privacy,” said the report.

The police report was lodged by PKR Youth’s deputy information chief Rozan Azen Mat Rasip today at the Sentul police station.

According to a report by Utusan Malaysia yesterday, JMM had prepared a letter addressed to Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, consenting to the public release of Anwar’s bank account details.

The letter only requires Anwar’s signature, which JMM chairperson Azwanddin Hamzah said they would seek by waiting outside his home daily and by following him wherever he goes.

“We are prepared to be Anwar’s despatch person because this is the only way to ensure that he signs the letter of consent, after many other efforts did not bear fruit,” he was quoted as saying.

The matter relates to former Permatang Pauh BN candidate Mazlan Ismail’s accusation that Anwar had paid DAP chairperson Karpal Singh RM50 million to bribe judges and prosecutors.

The duo had immediately denied the allegations and lodged police reports over the matter.
