Tanda Putera producer finally apologises to Lim

your say Anonymous #33877536: The urination scene in Shuhaimi Baba's ‘Tanda Putera' was not a mistake. It was done to discredit DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang. The older generation knows what happened during that time. However the younger generation is not interested to know what had happened.

The politicians are the ones who are creating this nonsense. And so, when you put something fictional in the movie to discredit a person, God will show his power. ‘Tanda Putera' is going to go down the drain. But not to worry, it is taxpayers' money not your money.

The urination scene was repulsive. As a state-funded movie, you should have downplayed it even if the incident did happen. What more you have done it to perpetrate and perpetuate a lie at the expense of others.

Truth1: So you want to make an ‘apology' now - and a terribly insincere one at that. If Lim Kit Siang were to sue you now, and you reply that you've already apologised, any intelligent judge would want to know why it took you this long to try to correct your blatant mistake.

Your movie has been dismissed by the majority of Malaysians; it's an utter and total failure; it will now be discarded into the garbage bin of history. Soon, you, the makers of this garbage, will also be discarded into the dustbin of history.

Hplooi: Only deadly riots occurred in Kuala Lumpur (there was some minor disturbance in Ipoh) but in the rest of Malaysia, the Malays and Chinese were looking out for each other (for example in Kelantan).

So was May 13, 1969 a spontaneous riot? In my kampong (Perak) where the Chinese lived cheek-by-jowl with the Malays, nothing happened. I was playing badminton with my Malay neighbour as usual (I was then a Form 3 boy).

Fact: Then Selangor MB Harun Idris was incensed that the Alliance lost in Selangor during the general election of the time, and his chief ministership was up in smoke (this is documented). Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad lost to a now PAS member in 1969.

Even then the DAP and Gerakan combined did not make up enough numbers to form any kind of government. You can google more information on the net. If the government obscures the truth, then more people will search for it and it will eventually surface.

Sinner: After showing the movie to Felda settlers and the rural Malays during GE13, aimed at playing the racial card to the hilt and getting their votes, it is now safe to admit that Lim did not pee on the flagpole nor had anyone else.

Shuhaimi, you are indeed stubborn, as CPO (chief police officer) Yuen Yuet Leng has said that if Lim had really urinated on the flagpole at the MB's house, he would not have come out of Harun's house alive.

By this reasoning, how could any Chinese youth come out alive if they had really urinated at Harun's residence?

Fair&Just: The filmmakers said, ".... film was made in honesty and was not intended to get at anyone."

Please look up the dictionary for the meaning of honesty and be truthful about it, or our young children will be very confused as to the real meaning of the word.

The other part of the quote also begs clarification as to why the so-called movie screening had been postponed several times and only screened recently.

Straight Talk: Do you know the meaning of honesty, Shuhaimi? One day you say the film is based on factual incidents, then you conceded that certain parts were fiction.

Don't insult our intelligence please. If you have low IQ, please do not assume the rest of us at similar level.

Anonyxyz: It was not a mistake - right from the very beginning the intention of the film is to create and escalate animosity between Malays and Chinese, the more hatred the better.

The aim is to fan the flames in the Malays' minds to influence Malay voters to vote for Umno at GE13 and create violence if BN loses the elections.

This film is now used to justify the rewriting of the history books and even if they do not succeed, the idea has been permanently planted of hatred between Malays and Chinese.

This is because only when that divide is cemented in the minds of the majority, then only the elite band of pirates headed by Umno, but not limited to Umno only but rich Chinese cronies as well, can milk every bit of money that they can lay their hands on .

Where else in the world can people like blind meter readers, useless doctors, brainless railway gatekeepers, etc, can become billionaires?

TA: What is the real truth here? Just that this particular director has been given money to film what Umno perceived truth. As a person involved in the arts, in particular a false depiction of history is never acceptable.

Your contribution to the country must depict the truth as this is supposed to be exemplary to future generations. In years to come, people with no sense of reel and real will get riled by scenes of men pissing at a pole like a canine.

The mob mentality in us will still think this what had really happened. As a result, the seeds of hate and animosity would have again been sown; a never ending cycle.

Angel: Shuhaimi, you say you are a Muslim - then how can you lie? Why don't you make the film according to former PM Tunku Abdul Rahman`s book on May 13 instead? Tell the truth, that is what God wants.

MinahBulat: Kak Shuhaimi, at one time I admired your work as a director. I was also proud of your work for I believed you could take our film industry one notch higher.

But this urination incident never took place, so it is fictional. It also shows that you did not do proper research on your subject, but when questioned, instead of admitting to your mistake what did you say? You told Malaysians that that is your creative licence to put in that incident.

What creative licence is that? In your movie that was the pivotal point that was supposed to have started the May 13 racial riot, and you call it creative? You are victimising the DAP. Worse still, you are victimising the Chinese race.

As a film director, you have lost the respect of many Malaysians and as a person, you have no dignity at all.
