YOURSAY ‘Gerakan, it seems the sole purpose of your existence is to destroy DAP. When are you going to wake up and do something useful?’
Chang: Tokong, like the Pope, is 'infallible'
ODIN: First point, Gerakan acting president Chang Ko Youn, you have illustrated not just your own inadequate general knowledge but also that of whoever it was that told you that the pope was infallible.
Since you are pathetically uneducated on the matter, I will now educate you. ‘Pope' comes from the Greek word pappas, meaning ‘father'. It is meant to be a formal reminder of humility.
Indeed, since the time of Pope Gregory I's rule (590 – 604 AD), every pope has called himself the “servant of the servants of God”. That clearly shows the pope is anything but infallible.
Next point. Your attack on Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is nothing more than an act of envy, an act executed by one desperate to deflect attention from his own (in this case, your own as well as that of your party's) miserable failure.
Your party is irrelevant; it is nothing more than window dressing; it comprises of those suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome. Doubtless you wouldn't know what that is, but I shan't waste more of my time educating you.
You educate yourself. And, no, I am not a DAP member, although I do think Guan Eng and his party have been, and are still, doing a very good job - and not only in west Malaysia but in Sarawak as well.
Bury lynas: Gerakan, it seems the sole purpose of your existence is to destroy DAP. When are you going to wake up and do something useful?
Awakened: Chang and Gerakan secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow, please see the bigger picture and give your comments on the latest announcements from our premier and deputy premier instead of criticising Lim Guan Eng subjectively without any substance.
There is no way Gerakan can take back Penang if you continue to overlook the unfair actions of our premier and deputy premier but choose to find little fault with Guan Eng.
Anonymous_3e06: You are such an ignorant politician. You do not know what the church means when it says the pope is infallible. You need to learn about the Catholic faith, Make an appointment with any of the priests or bishops. Do some homework.
Shaolin Disciple: Why only start talking and criticising now when Penangites have chosen Pakatan Rakyat to govern the state?
Why not criticise Najib’s Malay/bumiputera-only economic plan? Are you not a Malaysian? Or, perhaps you don't pay tax?
As for former Gerakan chief Khoo Tsu Koon and Gerakan, start walking the talk - then, maybe (a big maybe), Gerakan may get a seat in Penang in the next election - just to show that you can be a capable Opposition.
In short, start talking back at Umno now - like what MCA is doing.
Mwong: Chang, stop making mischief in Penang. To prove that Gerakan is not a ball carrier, withdraw from BN. You have no place in BN after all you did not deliver the votes. Najib does not need you. He has the support of the Malays. Gerakan and people like you are history.
Mano: We are very happy with our tokong. Our tokong apologises when he makes mistakes, our tokong places the Penang rakyat as his utmost priority in any town planning and development.
Our tokong does not change the rules and regulations to suit the amount of bribes offered because our tokong means and implements clean business. Thank you, we are very happy with our tokong.
2LAN: The traffic problem in Pulau Tikus is due to Gerakan approving the shopping complexes without studying the traffic problem.
And what about the string of housing developments along the coast to Batu Ferringhi? They were approved before DAP took over. Thank god we have a ‘tokong’ not controlled by Umno.
Victim: Funny that people take issue with the tokong as being dictatorial, but celebrate other dictators like Dr M, etc. And since when did Najib take any of our rakyat's suggestions?
He just does what he wants. Only he has a nice PR company to give it a cheery shine. A tokong with a cheesy grin, no less.
Ruben: Chang, don't be so jealous. Guan Eng is indeed a great leader. Well I can understand why people call him a tokong. In his five plus years he has brought back the dignity of the people of Penang.
He has brought back prosperity and at the same time, he did this with transparency, no corruption and no cronyism.
Actually the biggest loser is Gerakan. Dr Lim Chong Eu was such a great leader (for now, Guan Eng cannot match him). The man will be watching Gerakan with such distaste.
Gerakan, accept the fact; you are gone as a party.
Hbasill: Chang, if you have proof that Guan Eng is corrupt then take him to court. Or if you have facts about your claim, just mention it and let there be a survey by Malaysiakini to decide who the majority believes to be corrupt?
I think you know the answer - otherwise you would be an elected parlimanterian or state assemblyman by now for Gerakan.
OMG!!: I am no fan of Guan Eng but at this juncture don't you think all these Gerakan fellows should be focusing their energy on stopping the ruling elite's daily abuse of those who do not vote for them, and the regressive policies that they are now pursuing which would likely retard the country?
Babylon: Chang, you can only dream of what Guan Eng has done and is doing. Yes, many people believe he is God's gift to Penang, and they are not wrong.
You, on the other hand are a total waste of time. Khoo Tsu Koon was thrown out by the Penangites for being the lap dog of a corrupt establishment.
Rahman: When Deputy Chief Mansor Othman referred to Guan Eng as ‘tokong’ he did not have hero-worship in mind.
What he meant was Guan Eng's dictatorial style in running Penang. In a speech in Hong Kong, Guan Eng claimed he introduced open tenders for government procurement in Malaysia. He even claimed a former premier was surprised by his move.
The truth is that open tender for government procurements above a certain ceiling has always been the norm and practised since independence.
But in Hong Kong, hoping that the Hong Kong people are ignorant about Penang, he made such a ridiculous claim. So this is Guan Eng sizing his audience as to which card to play.
Louis: Chang Ko Youn, are you a Christian in the first place? If not, please do not use the pope in such a stupid manner. All mortal Christians, without exception, are sinners.
That is the very reason we, including the pope, need the blood of Christ to cleanse our sins. Kindly apologise to the Christians, Catholics in particular, for the mistake.
SenyumUnta: All these years, Gerakan has been treating Umno like their unquestionable tokong or their almighty Hitler.
Whatever Umno says or does, it is OK from Gerakan, MCA, and MIC with tails in-between their legs.
Why no comments from them on the PM's massive handouts to the bumiputera and the DPM’s comments about ignoring non-Malays?
BernieBaby: By the way, who told you that the pope is infallible? Popes make mistakes as well.
