The continued harassment from the authorities has failed to dampen the spirit of Himpunan Hijau leader Wong Tack.

He remains NONE adamant on completing his mission to secure one million signatures in protest against the Lynas rare earth plant in Gebeng, Pahang

"The only way to stop me is to lock me up. We will continue on no matter what pressure is put on us by the authorities.

"We will be here through rain or shine, with shelter or without shelter. They can take anything from us, but we will still carry on," he pledged.

Last night and this morning, DBKL officers together with police personnel confiscated a tent and other items belonging to Himpunan Hijau near Dataran Merdeka.

The other items seized were umbrellas, tables, chairs, mats, biscuits and a few boxes of mineral water.

NONE The group was also slapped with a compound by DBKL for putting up obstacles in a public area.

"This is not the first time. We face this harassment on a daily basis," said Wong Tack, but added that the latest was the worst so far as DBKL was assisted by the police.

Himpunan Hijau had launched their campaign on Aug 24.

Meanwhile, a total of 12 DBKL officers were seen again at Dataran Merdeka at 4.26pm to fence up the site where the members gathered, resulting in Wong and several others being trapped inside.

NONE The Himpunan Hijau members gave the full cooperation to the authorities and no untoward incident occurred.

However, some of the members described themselves as “being placed in a zoo”, dubbing Himpunan Hijau as being like “protected animals”.

Wong had chided the move by DBKL as wretched and silly.

“Even if they construct an 8-feet tall concrete wall, this will not lock up our spirit. The sad thing is, this group of old workers who do silly things, their children see them oppressing the citizens, this will be very heart-wrenching. I pity them,” he said.
