Suhaimi Ibrahim, once the political secretary to former women, family and community development minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, has admitted that he was called for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He told TV3 's prime time news segment Buletin Utama this evening that he was among several "officers" that were quizzed by the MACC.

However, he denied news reports that the MACC had confiscated several luxury vehicles that belonged to him.

"I want to stress that none of my vehicles were confiscated (by the MACC)," he said.

Yesterday, Suhaimi's name was withheld from Malaysiakini's report on this matter pending formal charges being laid.

Suhaimi is the former Umno state assemblyperson for Benta, Pahang and once led Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS) between 1997 and 2006.

He was arrested on Friday morning and released early yesterday.

According to MACC sources, he was probed in relations to misappropriating funds from the 1Azam welfare programme, which is under the purview of the ministry.

Shahrizat stood down from the ministry's helm after her family was embroiled in the RM250 million National Feedlot Corporation Corporation scandal.
