A worker at the Paku quarry in Bau near Kuching was killed while his two co-workers were injured in a freak accident early today when the bulldozer they were in flipped and fell about 15 metres down the slope.

Bau district police chief DSP Mohd Sabri Zainol said the accident occurred about 8.45am when the bulldozer driven by the dead victim, who was identified as Thomas Johin, 41, was doing extraction works with two mechanics.

However, the two survivors, identified as Cassey Suhen, 24, sustained serious injuries while Sebastian Sanjit Singh, 44, who jumped out of the falling bulldozer, escaped with only minor injuries, he told Bernama in Kuching.

He said initial reports said the freak accident occurred when the bulldozer accidently reversed backwards and lost control.

The two survivors were later sent to the nearest hospital for treatment.
