A four months pregnant woman was shot in the foot as she was asleep in her house at Sungai Ular, Balok near Kuantan early yesterday morning.  

Kuantan deputy police chief Supt Aziz Ahmad said the incident was believed to have occurred after midnight while the woman, 37, who worked as a cleaner, was asleep with her nine-year-old son and her three other children were in the next room.

“The victim woke up when she felt pain and found her left foot bleeding. She called her husband, 47, who was not home at the time,” he said.

“The medical officer at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan confirmed that it was a gunshot wound. The victim lodged a report at the Kuantan police station this morning,” he said when contacted by Bernama in Kuantan today.   

He said a bullet hole in a wooden wall and gunshot residue were found in the victim’s house.

“The victim is stable but still traumatised by the incident,” he said.
