As a 24-hour news channel, Bernama TV needs to regularly reinvent its content, coverage of current affairs and news as a whole to provide a balanced coverage, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

Shabery said Bernama TV has been asked to broadcast activities and news of all political parties in the country, not just Umno, but parties like DAP, PAS or PKR.

azlan"Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) which has better capabilities in terms of facilities, infrastructure and work force but limited airtime, will be asked to assist.

"God willing, a new channel will be introduced soon," he said in his Facebook posting today.

He said a proposal to add another Malay channel and English channel under the ministry's purview would soon become a reality in the digital era.

Bernama TV is a 24-hour international news and current affairs television network in Malaysia owned by Bernama, a government news agency that offers news in four languages, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Tamil and Mandarin through Astro's 502 channel.

Meanwhile, the minister's comment on his Facebook account received positive reaction, especially from Mohd Nor Affandi and Rose Aklaj who praised the minister for his liberal approach.

There was also a proposal by Zarrieff Nasir who urged RTM to enhance the quality of design, props and layout to remain competitive with other media channels.
