Selangor PAS Youth is hopeful the state government will reconsider its decision and inject more funds into the state football team to prevent the exodus of its players.

NONEThis will ensure the continuity of the Selangor football team's achievements, state PAS Youth deputy chief Mohd Sany Hamzan (left) said today.

"We are also hopeful that Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, who is president of the Selangor Football Association, will bring in new faces who are progressive and efficient.

"We also hope the state can attract new sponsors to bring back Selangor's glory days in football," said Sany, who is aggrieved by Khalid's 'does PAS Youth prefer football or mosques' remark.

"A majority of the people in Selangor like football. Maybe Khalid is surrounded by the "spirit of billions in fixed deposit", resulting in him to lose "the spirit of sports" for the people. The suggestion to choose between football and mosque is not fair as these are different things."

Sany said mosques are needed for the spread of religion and spirituality, while football is one of the sports to build a healthy lifestyle and could be a unifying factor among the younger generation of Selangor.

NONESany expressed confidence that Khalid (right) could resolve the issue, since he has a good track record of increasing Selangor's reserves to RM3 billion despite being sidelined by the federal government.

"In Khalid's wisdom of running the state, PAS Youth is hopeful that he will lead the the Selangor FA and Selangor football to better times ahead," he said.

Selangor PAS Youth has expressed its regret that the state investment authority Menteri Besar Incorporated was not forking out enough funds for the local football team.

Khalid, in responding yesterday to this call made by Sany, gave PAS Youth two options: Does it prefer the building of new mosques or more money on the Selangor football squad?

PAS claimed that due to the lack of funds from the state, several players like Amri Yahyah, Norazlan Razali, Mahalli Jasuli and Asraruddin Putra Omar have been lured away by the Johor football squad.
