Member for Parliament for Pulai, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, has been appointed as chairmen of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).    

The announcement on the appointment was made by Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, KL, today.     

He said the selection was made by the parliamentary select committee with Tan Seng Giaw (DAP-Kepong) appointed as the PAC vice-chairman and 12 Barisan Nasional (BN) and opposition MPs as members of the committee.     

Pandikar Amin said the parliamentary select committee had met for two days over the selection before making the decision.     

He himself chaired the meeting, with Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim and DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelang Patah) also present at the meeting.     

The PAC members from BN are Reezal Merican Naina Merican (Kepala Batas), Chua Tee Yong (Labis), Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir (Kulim-Bandar Baru), Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Masjid Tanah), Liang Teck Meng (Simpang Renggam), Madius Tangau (Tuaran), Hasbi Habibollah (Limbang) and Wee Jeck Seng (Tanjung Piai).     

Those from the opposition are Kamarul Baharin Abbas (PKR-Telok Kemang), William Leong Jee Ken (PKR-Selayang), Kamarudin Jaafar (PAS-Tumpat) and Tony Pua Kiam Kee (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara).     

Pandikar Amin said the select committee also chose six MPs each for the standing orders committee, house committee and rights and privileges committee.     

All the three committees are chaired by him as provided by the parliamentary standing order.     

Meanwhile, on the demise of former Kedah menteri besar Azizan Abdul Razak, Pandikar Amin described it as a big loss to the Malaysian community.
