Guan Eng: ROS might not ease pressure on DAP, yet
The Registrar of Societies (ROS) might not stop breathing down DAP’s neck even though the party has re-elected its central executive committee (CEC) as instructed, said secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
The Registrar of Societies (ROS) might not stop breathing down DAP’s neck even though the party has re-elected its central executive committee (CEC) as instructed, said secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
“I believe they will not stop here. They might look for other ways,” Lim told a press conference at the Parliament lobby today.
“The ROS must feel a little ashamed. Their efforts to sabotage the party have failed. We are asking the ROS not to try and make things difficult for the DAP. Stop your attacks. What more does the ROS want?"
On Sunday, delegates had elected the same 20 CEC members as they did during the 2012 party congress - the outcome of which was nullified after a technical glitch.
Lim said this is of importance to the DAP.
Asked about the change in ranking among the top 20 - including a noticeable drop in votes for himself - Lim said this could be a consequence of decisions that the party had made leading up the 13th general election.
"These are consequences for candidature decisions made during the elections," he added.
