Tengku Zaihan sworn in as Kuala Besut assemblyperson

Tengku Zaihan of Barisan Nasional (BN) won the seat in the by-election on July 24, defeating PAS’ Azlan Yusof.
Tengku Zaihan polled 8,288 votes while PAS candidate Endot @ Azlan Yusof received 5,696 votes, hence enabling BN to retain power in Terengganu.
The by-election was held after the Kuala Besut seat fell vacant following the death of assemblyperson Dr Rahman Mokhtar on June 26.
In the 13th general election Dr Abdul Rahman won the seat with 2,434-vote majority against PAS’ candidate Napisah Ismail.
