He has obtained the required two division nominations to vie for the PAS deputy president title. But Husam Musa refuses to put on his boxing gloves.

                

The PAS vice-president, considered the blue-eyed boy of the party’s spiritual leader Nik Aziz Nik Mat, said he saw no reason to challenge the incumbent number two Mohamad Sabu.

"What's the best reason for me to go against Abang Mat? Do you have a reason for me?

"If there is no good reason, then why should I?" he asked, referring to the PAS central leadership elections in November.

Husam was responding to a question posed during a forum on PAS' survivability in Malaysian politics in Kuala Lumpur last night.

Others on the panel were PAS vice-president Salahudin Ayub, central committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and Batu Burok assemblyperson Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi.

Mohamad Sabu ( right ), who was elected deputy president in a three-cornered fight in the last party elections, has confirmed that he would be defending his post.

Besides Husam, who is also Salor assmblyperson, two others have been speculated to be interested in the PAS number two spot.

It is learnt that information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar Nik Amar Abdullah have also obtained enough nominations to contest the post.
