Are we back in the dark ages of 'kill or be killed'?

YOURSAY Does the Home Minister Zahid Hamidi understand the words ‘justice'? Or ‘due process'?

With criminals, we shoot first, admits home minister

your say Fairplayer: When Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, "That is my new law, there is no compromise," did he mean the country belongs to him to do as he wishes? Without a thought given to justice as befits a democracy?

Zahid, you don't own Malaysia. The 53 percent of Malaysians (who did not vote for BN in GE13) have a share to the "ownership" of Malaysia! Be reminded.

Kit P: Does Zahid Hamidi understand the words "justice"? Or "due process"? I don't think so.

Ferdtan: This is exactly why Umno has to go. No matter who the Umno ministers are, they tend to play to the gallery to get votes. We should also blame the Umno members who have been brainwashed by the 50 years of racist propaganda by state-sponsored Biro Tata Negara. Most have racist tendencies.

If there is no ready audience, then a race-slanted Umno leader, like Ahmad Zahid, will have no place in this country. Shouldn't the AG and IGP, if they have enough guts, order an investigation into their boss's controversial statements?

To threaten the journalists that he would close down their newspapers if they reported his controversial and racist statements borders on abuse of power. His supporting of Malay gangsters, Tiga Line, and by profiling the Chinese and Indians gangsters against the supposedly Malay victims, are seditious in nature.

MfM: Okay, give us citizens the right to defend ourselves then since the police can't do their job. Let us own firearms like in the United States.

Why MP Bung Mokhtar can have a gun and I can't? Why such double standards? We live in civil society, that's why. This isn't the Wild West as Zahid Hamidi seems to think it is.

Yes, there are gangsters, yes there are criminals, but criminal or not, a person is only guilty when there is evidence of the crime committed.

It's better to let to criminal go due to lack of evidence than to punish an innocent man at any time. The injustice of punishing an innocent far outweighs the injustice of letting a criminal go free. No matter how good these criminals are, they will slip up.

That's what the police are supposed to do, catch these guys with the evidence and not try to cheat their way with these amoral Prevention of Crime Act amendments.

Anonymous_40a7: Deputy Minister P Waythamoorthy, remember the "blueprint" you signed with the PM before the elections? With this revealation by Ahmad Zahid, now you know just how much "worth" the blueprint is to them now. You have been taken for a ride. Again.

Cala: No wonder Nobel Prize winner North (1990) said differences in the quality of institutions alone explain why First World nations achieve economic development, whereas their counterparts (the Third World states) could not progress. Ahmad Zahid treats the law as wastepaper but promotes his own "law" to combat crime - "shoot first, explain later".

This is Malaysia's greatest contribution to mankind that explains why certain societies cannot progress - because they have many ‘Ahmad Zahids' in their ranks.

Netizen63: I never knew that, just to defend his Umno post, he would act and talk so badly of other races. Do we still need leaders like him?

Unspin: Let's hope that Ahmad Zahid does not become our prime minister one day. If we thought that Dr Mahathir Mohamad was bad in his disrespect for human and civil rights, this guy could be much worse.

Ahmad Zahid, we all know that you need to defend your vice-president position in Umno, but please do us all a favour by not frightening off investors by your loose cannon bravado.

Albertan98: Let's hear from the MIC and the Indian ministers and deputy ministers in the present cabinet. What say you about this? Or are you going to keep quiet because you want to keep your position?

Ferdtan: So how many criminals (the majority being Indian gangsters) were shot to death first without questions asked first? So when questions were asked and mistakes made, what does that mean?

Collateral damage? Are we back in the dark ages of ‘kill or be killed'?

Umno members, don't think you are safe - one of these days the innocent victim may be your son or daughter. The already trigger-happy police have been given approval to shoot on sight before caring for the consequences. It would be callous to say "I told you so" when deaths in your family occur.

Jean pierre: Don't forget this hate speech and plans are devised only because of overwhelming support from Malays, in the GE13 and now. Don't forget that among the candidates for Umno vice-presidents, Ahmad Zahid has the most support.

There is so much hidden anger in the minds of the common Malays. It's a time bomb waiting to explode.

Amoker: So, Zahid is saying that it is okay to shoot the Indians to protect the Malays? Now, what will Waytha and MIC do now? Kiss his hands again?

Amateur:

Apparently in Malaysia, race is the topmost priority. Victims of crimes are mostly Malays so the suspects are shot first. Wrongdoers in the auditor-general's reports are mostly Malays, so they are let off scot-free. Without a new government, Malaysia is beyond redeemable.

Onyourtoes: Malaysiakini , I hope you will publish the speech in verbatim and see what will happen. If newspapers and news portals succumb to his threats, it shows his antics work. It shows Malaysian newspapers and new portals are indeed cowards.

I think all newspapers and news portal should "collude" in this instance and publish whatever he said in full. Let him shut down all the newspapers and news portals in the country.

Not Confused: The nasty minded home minister once again tries to play to the gallery in the hope of garnering votes in the coming Umno polls. His mentality is so low, and his attitude so arrogant that he is driving an even bigger wedge among the races and more voters towards the opposition.

BN/Umno continues to rot from the head down with such low-class leaders. Keep it up guys; the noose is tightening even further.

Dood: Oh, so you shoot suspects first because they are assumed to be guilty criminals, eh? Let's see... perhaps we should lodge several police reports against you (Ahmad Zahid) and hope the police apply that same policy when they go hunt you down.

Wira: He is talking about shooting suspects dead instead of apprehending them first. This was his state of mind when he bulldozed the PCA through Parliament last week.

Pisasu 7: When the PM is weak, this is what happens. Everybody is PM now.
