The Land Public Transport Commission (Spad) will carry out a survey on the possible increase of taxi and rental car fares.

Southern region Spad chief Mustafa Mohd Jizat said in Johor, the survey forms would be placed at the Larkin Sentral Terminal, JB Sentral Terminal, Batu Pahat bus terminal and Senai International Airport starting next week.

“The forms would be placed at those locations for three months for the public to give their opinions and feedback before they were collected and brought to Spad headquarters for assessment and record purposes,” he told reporters after attending the Driver Refresher Course for taxi drivers in Iskandar Malaysia today.

Mustafa said the initiatives were taken as Spad was in the midst of vreviewing the taxi and rental car fares as last time the fares were increased was in 2009.

The review was also aimed at creating a win-win situation so that both the operators and the passengers were not burdened or oppressed.

Apart from the survey, Spad would also discuss the matter with other focus groups and related agencies, he said.
