In a damage control bid, the DAP central leadership has announced that it will meet with its Johor leaders tonight to iron out any disgruntlement among them after the latter's recent public statements.

DAP publicity chief Tony Pua said that party supremo Lim Kit Siang will personally meet with Johor DAP chief Boo Cheng Hau and other state leaders after his programme in Johor this evening.

"...Any misunderstandings or differences can be communicated in an open and frank fashion and this matter can be resolved in an amicable fashion," he said in a statement today.

Boo yesterday criticised DAP's Malaysian Dream project, including its fund raising efforts, which he claimed were not approved by the central executive committee (CEC).

Prior to that, he had also criticised the central leadership for suspending and replacing the Kedah DAP leadership with an interim one.

Pua said Boo's criticism of the Malaysian Dream project that include offshoots such as 'Impian Sarawak' and 'Impian Sabah' came as a surprise as the latter had not raised any objections when the matter was discussed at meetings.

‘No objections at meeting’

"For this massive campaign, DAP Sarawak chairperson Chong Chieng Jen and myself have at the CEC meeting on July 16, 2013, made the relevant Impian Sarawak proposals, an offshoot of the 'Malaysian Dream' movement, which were endorsed unanimously.

"Boo, who is also an elected CEC member was present at the meeting and there was no concern, reservation or objection raised with regards to this campaign, including the suggestion that DAP Johor should likewise hold a fund-raising campaign to support the movement," he said.

Pua said the party's grassroots supporters are disappointed with the public disputes but said that the central leadership was sincere in wanting to resolve any differences with Boo.

The apparent Johor revolt follows similar discontent shown by the Kedah and Malacca DAP leadership recently.

Malacca DAP chief Goh Leong San had abruptly resigned as opposition leader after a group aligned to the DAP central leadership criticised him for praising BN's Malacca chief minister Idrus Harun.
