Incumbent Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and other front runners have began converging at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) where the official results are trickling in as they prepare to declare victory.

Umno president Najib Abdul Razak is also present, there together with wife Rosmah Mansor.

Unofficial results show that Khairy is set to retain his position with a very convincing victory.

At the time of writing, Malaysiakini understands that Khairy has already bagged 115 votes from the 191 Umno divisions while all four of his opponents have yet to pick up a single vote.

Khairy needs only 96 votes to win with a simple majority. At this point of time, Khairy's votes looks almost certain to climb further.

His challengers are Syed Rosli Syed Harman, Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi, Irwan Ambak Khalid Izhar and Abd Karim Ali.

A confident Khairy, clad in Baju Melayu, arrived at PWTC with his wife at around 9.50pm.

Meanwhile, Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil also looks set to retain her position for a second term as unofficial results show she has an unassailable lead against her opponents.

Malaysiakini understands that Shahrizat has just crossed the simple majority mark of 96 votes. She arrived together with husband Mohamad Salleh at PWTC at around 10:35pm.

Her two challengers are Maznah Mazlan and Raihan Suleiman Palestin.

On the Puteri Umno front, Mas Ermieyati Samsudin look certain to lead the movement for the coming term as she too has opened a strong lead against her only rival Jamilah Hanim Othman.

The duo are new faces as incumbent chief Maznah had to vacate the seat due to age constraints.

Mas Ermieyati arrived at PWTC with supporters at around 10.15pm and also appears to be preparing to declare victory soon.

The collated results are accurate as of 10.50pm. The maximum number of votes each candidate can secure is 191, based on the number of Umno divisions in the country.
