A Padang Besar Umno division deputy head candidate is disappointed that he was labeled a bankrupt which could result in him being disqualified to contest for any political post.     

Wan Nordin Che Murat, 62, a businessman said he received a copy of a letter which was issued by Umno headquarters from a Perlis Umno leader which alleged he was a bankrupt.      

The letter was purportedly signed by Umno secretary-general, Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor on Oct 4 which mentioned that based on a bankruptcy screening on Sept 29 he was found to be a bankrupt.      

Wan Nordin said as soon as news on the letter spread to Padang Besar on Aidiladha on Oct 15, he immediately told his lawyer to verify with the Insolvency Department in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur yesterday and found he was not a bankrupt.      

"The latest check today with the Insolvency Department in Kangar found I am not a bankrupt," he said while displaying a certificate issued by the department.
