Picking up a feud started by his predecessor Abdul Rahman Othman, the newly-appointed head of the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has also  hit out at DAP.

Mohammad Razin Abdullah, who was transferred from the Home Ministry and took over the ROS reins this month, was reported in Utusan Malaysia as saying that he was looking into taking legal measures against DAP’s Tony Pua for allegedly calling ROS  an ‘Umno dog’ in a Facebook posting. He also reminded DAP that they have not filed their papers after last month’s central executive committee (CEC) re-elections.

Mohammad Razin said Pua’s “unruly remarks” have also been referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate and take follow-up action. Pua is DAP’s national publicity secretary.

“ROS won’t interfere with the MCMC investigations because the commission has power to evaluate blogs and social websites from time to time,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Razin also said ROS has yet to receive any documentation from DAP on its special congress to re-elect its CEC last month. The re-election was held partly in response to the ROS rejection of DAP’s explanation of an irregularity in its leadership election last December. The same results prevailed and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had lauded DAP’s compliance.

In the Utusan article, ROS however reminded the DAP that it must file the results within 30-60 days after the special congress, to allow ROS to then investigate any complaints.

On its front page, the Umno-owned daily also reported that ex-DAP member David Dass questioning why he was allowed to vote in the CEC congress on Sept 29, even though he was sacked from the party in July.  

Dass, who was the vice-chairperson of the Ladang Paroi DAP branch, claimed he never received the letter informing him of his sacking from the party.

Dass had previously tried to stop the DAP re-election just days before the congress, but his case was dismissed by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
