6.30pm: MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong says he expects Pakatan Rakyat to mislead the Sungai Limau voters by using the goods and services tax (GST).

Wee said Pakatan, especially PAS would make GST as one of the big issues in its by-election campaign.

"I think the government should be prepared for this, by translating written materials into different languages and explaining the real story to the people," he said after visiting the MCA by-election operations centre.

Wee also suggested that information on the list of GST-exempted items, especially the daily necessities, be disseminated.

On the voting trend of the Chinese in the state constituency, he said the BN hoped to obtain more than half of the votes, which he described as tough task.

Asked if infighting within the MCA would affect Chinese confidence in the party, Wee said MCA members were united to face external challenges, regardless of the factions within.

RM802,700 is for Mara agricultural incentives for roughly 107 recipients and RM1 million from the Yayasan Felda for about 200 recipients for house repairs.

At the same event, Muhyiddin handed out zakat from Agrobank worth RM19,700, 70 sets of portable speakers for NGOs as well as fertiliser and even 20 chicks to attendees.

11.10am: Minister in Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom (right) describes the action of PAS candidate Mohd Azam Abd Samat visiting his 77-year-old father as "political visit".

NONEHowever, Jamil thanked PAS for visiting Baharom Ramli, who suffered a stroke three years ago, in Kampung Ulu Sedaka, Yan.

"Thanks for going. Thanks for the political visit," Jamil told Malaysiakini briefly today at the SMK Sungai Limau.

PAS-owned publication Harakah Daily reported the visit yesterday, quoting the party vice-president Mahfuz Omar as saying that Baharom prayed for Azam’s victory.

10am: The fourth day into the Sungai Limau by-election campaign saw more than 1,500 locals attending a meeting session with Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin at this secondary school compound.

Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom were also present.

NONEMukhriz in his speech urged the attendees, comprising teachers, parents and students, to support BN candidate Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim, who was sitting on the stage with the Umno leaders.

"I promise you I will develop this area, if Ahmad Sohaimi is elected as the state assemblyperson," Mukhriz said, drawing applause from the crowd.

Delivering his speech, Muhyiddin asked the registered voters present about their choice for the by-election.

"Who will you vote for? Some say this is a secret, but if I don't campaign for the candidate here, I feel it's unfair, so my appeal to you here is to support BN candidate," he said.

Muhyiddin also encouraged the voters to change from "green camp" to the "blue camp", meaning to switch from PAS to the BN.

"It's not sinful for Muslims to support Umno. I challenge the PAS ustaz to prove, with the Quran, that the people will go to hell if they vote for Umno," he declared.

Muhyiddin then announced an allocation of RM1.4 million for 12 schools in Sungai Limau.
