YOURSAY ‘High crime rate was just a perception, but now that they want to pass draconian laws, we are having a war against gangsters where we are losing every battle.'
Gov't: Malaysia now worse than US mafia wars
Apacerita: Why am I not surprised? We have thuggish ministers in our Parliament who are also lawmakers. These ministers uttered threatening words like "I will kill you" and also "shoot first" and went unpunished.
And we have law enforcers who steal, beat and kill people without any reasons and went unpunished. These law enforcers can even dropped their guns in the toilet.
So with all these thuggish lawmakers and lackadaisical law enforcers, I am not surprised that these gangsters are being so bold.
Armageddon: Gangsterism is at the rise. Who to blame if we see for ourselves some ministers and some also their sons also behave like one. And that was the reason, PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) had a hard time to eliminate gangsterism.
Lim Chong Leong: When it suited them, high crime rate was just a perception, but now that they want to pass draconian laws, we are having a war against gangsters where we are losing every battle.
The fact is the police under the current Umno mismanagement, are just a bunch of bungling buffoons getting mugged of their guns or losing them while having a shit.
James1067: Crime does not increase overnight and if not controlled in the beginning it will be a serious problem. Why have we come to this stage because crime pays.
They are used to kill enemies, employed to harass voters during election times, help connected loan sharks to collect debts, frighten residents to vacate their lands and used in many other ways for certain people's agenda.
Crime is big business and today it is a billion ringgit enterprise. Criminals today allegedly have connections in every department right from the Parliament, Attorney-General's office to the police constable on the street.
So Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar just don't concentrate on some particular criminals as they exist in posh million ringgit offices with titles to their names right to the man on the street. The big boys don't advertise.
So if you are serious about eradicating crime and criminals start from the top and the bottom will die a natural death.
Hello: The very fact that the BN government is using Sosma (Security Offences and Special Measures Act) against gangsters and the minister saying that gangsterism is very rife is an admission that the police have failed in their duty to maintain peace in the community.
If the police are efficient and professional, gangsterism would not be on the rise. Promulgating Sosma is an abuse of the government's majority and its intention on the use of this Act is suspect.
The credibility of this BN (read Umno) government is sliding downhill like a ton of bricks.
Wiser: Which is worst: A funeral procession for a dead gangster, or a minister saying "shoot first"; or another shouting "I will kill you"?
Gangsters get shot, ordinary folks get shot, government employees get shot, banker get shot, now bank employee get shot.
Even the jails are not safe. You can get murdered by not only other jaibirds, but by the jailers! Malaysia is indeed the Wild East equivalent to the Wild West. What do you expect?
When lawmakers are behaving like cowboys, and police are spending less time catching crooks and gangsters than pleasing the needs of the executives?
Mohamad Abdul Malik: Police, please do your job. Continue the Ops Cantas and just do not stop. If it has come to this stage, then the logical reasoning was that what have the police been doing for years?
And now when the police are really doing their job, we suddenly have numerous 'human rights advocates' indirectly siding with the gangsters who were shot dead. This under the guise of those shot were 'innocent until prevent guilty'.
And talking of racial discrimination, did I hear of any condemnation of the police for the recent shooting of the four Indonesian robbers? Or was it they were "guilty until proven innocence"?
Hypocrisy of the highest order I should say to those accusing the police of racial bias.
Wira: This is the result of a government instead of training their energy on gangsters and the mafia is fighting law-abiding citizens in civic protests.
Why didn't the government unleash the FRU on the '04' mafia in that funeral procession?
NNFC: Wait a minute. I thought earlier there was a minister who said that our streets are safe, and that the high crime rates were just a perception.
Real Truth: The worst crooks are the ones robbing the country of its wealth by dubious means like the NFC and many crooks who walk the corridor of power in Putrajaya and the people who even murder an innocent foreign women.
These people are worse than the gangsters.
Ablastine: The band of Umno thieves exploiting the country got no moral authority to comment on mafia because they are the biggest mafia of them all.
