7.30pm - SJK (C) Yuk Min, Sungai Limau Dalam, Kedah

Kota Darul Aman state assemblyperson Teoh Boon Kok of DAP reminds the voters not to be deceived by BN’s promise that allocation would be given to Chinese schools during the Sungai Limau by-election.

He said this might just be “fantasy” as no school had received any allocation so far.

Teoh today had also launched a Chinese slogan specially designed for by-election - ‘Support Pakatan, uphold dignity’.

“This is to urge the Chinese not to surrender to BN’s anti-Chinese politics even though there’s no change of federal government,” he says before accompanying PAS candidate Mohd Azam Abd Samat for a house-to-house visit at a Chinese village nearby.

6.20pm - Puteri Umno ops centre, Taman Mahsuri, Sungai Limau

Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir predicts that no development allocation at all will be channelled to Sungai Limau if it continues to be represented by a PAS assemblyperson.

“Surely on an assemblyperson’s pay the opposition will not be able to install wifi, repair roads and construct roofs on suraus.

“On the other hand, promises from a government assemblyperson will get personal attention from me,” he says in his speech.

6pm - Puteri Umno ops centre, Taman Mahsuri, Sungai Limau

During the launching of the operations room of Puteri Umno at Sungai Limau, Puteri chief Mas Ermieyati Shamsuddin fully utilises technology when she sends a brief video message as she was set to arrive late for the launching.

Representing her at the function is Puteri vice-chief Zahida Zarik Khan.

2.30pm - PAS operations centre, Sungai Limau, Kedah

PAS vice-president Mahfuz Omar today describes Budget 2014 as a “racist budget” that marginalised the Chinese community.

He says Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had specifically thanked the Indians in his speech while tabling the budget but left out the Chinese.

“This has shown that BN doesn’t bother to grab the Chinese support,” he tells a press conference today.

Mahfuz (right) points out that RM100 million would be allocated for Tamil education while another RM28 million for pre-school development for the community.

“I’m not objecting to the government helping Indian, but why nothing for Chinese?” he questions.

To this, Mahfuz also slams MCA for being “invaluable” to BN.

He says there is no doubt that Chinese had contributed to the country’s economic growth, however MCA was no longer important in BN.

Referring to Najib’s budget speech, Mahfuz points out that on page 52, he thanked the Indians for supporting BN in the last general election with the Tamil words “Nandri Vanakam”.

To condemned this for its unfairness, asking why not use the Mandarin words “Xie xie da jia” (thanks everyone) to thank the Chinese.

Meanwhile, Mahfuz squashes rumours that he sent an SMS to sabotage BN candidate Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim, claiming that the latter had received mental treatment before.

“I swear that I’ve never done such a thing before. I’m not a stupid politician, I embrace gentlemen politics,” he stresses.

Asked if he would lodge a police report, Mahfuz says he would decide after consulting his lawyer.
