Finance minister goes AWOL at Budget debate
VOXPOP 'As usual Najib leaves pressing issues at home and flies overseas. God save Malaysia as we are sailing with the captain missing.'
Anwar: Debating budget akin to 'talking to the deaf'
KB Menon: It is indeed shocking that our PM cum finance minister and even his deputy is absent from Parliament while the national Budget is debated.
It reflects a 'couldn't care less' attitude with the PM off on one of his international jaunts with beloved wife in tow. The very huge budget of RM16.5 billion for his own ministry must be hotly debated and closely scrutinised.
Why is there a need of this huge allocation for himself when there are other relevant ministries to handle matters?
MockingYou: Thanks to Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim for socking it to the PM cum finance minister, who went halfway around the globe to talk about some Islamic financing thingy while leaving the budget dangling at home. Where are all the Finance Ministry's deputy, dawgs?
Bamboo: As usual, Najib leaves pressing issues at home and flies overseas. Another way for him to deal with a hot issue is with his elegant silence. God save Malaysia as we are sailing with the captain missing.
Senior Citizen: Watching any parliamentary proceedings is turning out to be irritating and disgusting. I watched the session where Tanjong Karang MP Noh Omar queried Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar about sodomy.
I thought, "Look here is an idiotic and a pathetic human being wasting time in Parliament to raise this question to, of all the persons, Nurul, who is a darling parliamentarian and who is an intellectual per se."
Honestly I am ashamed of Malaysia today and I wish to dissociate myself with anything Malaysian.
Khris: Now you can see how Najib works - drop the bomb and leave.
'Kit Siang wrong, PKFZ acquittal not blank cheque'
KiaSi-SiamSai: MCA deputy chief Liow Tiong Lai, the public already know for a long time that former party boss Ling Liong Sik is being made a scapegoat in this PKFZ sandiwara.
What the public doesn't understand is why MCA let Umno do that to your ex-president and ultimately, who is the government trying to protect in this fiasco?
Money is spent and gone and the culprits are still out there enjoying their ill-gotten public money. Don't you think this is stupid? So what now, is the case closed and marked ‘no further action'?
Gambateh: So Liow, if not Ling then who is to be blamed? And what about the RM12.5 billion taxpayers' money?
Malaysian 001: Liow, can you tell us if the ministry under Ling went through a period where public funds amounting to billions were lost?
If that cannot be denied, isn't Ling the top honcho at the Transport Ministry at that time? Isn't he the ultimate person heading the ministry, or are you saying the civil servant can carry out/ approve such huge transactions without the approval of the minister?
The attorney-general (AG) would have been a party to getting Ling off by framing the PKFZ charges in such a way, but all of you are just as guilty. Your former appointee as Port Klang Authority chairperson made it clear and so did Price WaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
Satu Hari: Bravo, Liow. I applaud you for standing up for Ling. You are finally showing to the Chinese voters that you can be tough.
After all, we Malaysians will believe anything the powers-that-be dish out to us. We are used to swallowing it hook, line and sinker. With this performance, you can rest assured of winning the MCA presidency. Indeed, there's no other talent in MCA.
Headhunter: If Ling is a victim, then please make us all victims, Liow. After all, who doesn't want to be a multi-millionaire - all paid by the rakyat's sweat and toil without even lifting a finger?
MockingYou: When nobody is accountable and punished for blunders or mismanagement. then it is a blank cheque at the rakyat's expenses. There is another blank: who killed the Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu?
Two blanks don't make one right, but instead only confirm that our justice system, along with good governance and respecting the separation of powers, is dead.
Ketuanan Rakyat: MCA is the Malaysian Cronies Association. The Umnoputras decide how to siphon off money from taxpayers and MCA helps to ensure it is done.
Wisdom: Don't blame Ling, don't blame former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad, don't blame MCA. Just blame Malaysians who did not change their votes in GE13.
