Equating Gerakan with DAP, Malay right wing movement Perkasa called the BN component party a pretentious, Chinese-chauvinistic party with a secret plan to undermine the supremacy and political power of the Malays in Malaysia.

"The Malays are not stupid," Perkasa's information chief Ruslan Kasim is quoted as saying by Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia today.

NONE"Gerakan, don't try to mislead the people. On the outside, they look like they are against DAP but the truth is that the two are in cohorts and carry a common agenda, to undermine the domination, power and political leadership of the Malays," Ruslan (left) said.

Perkasa had previously called for Gerakan, which suffered major losses the last two general elections, to dissolve and merge with MCA.

This irked Gerakan, which responded that it was Perkasa that was BN's chief troublemaker, causing the ruling coalition to lose votes in the recent general election.

Ruslan responded to that charge as well in the Utusan report.

"Is it logical that even in Chinese-majority areas, Gerakan did not get votes because of Perkasa?" he said, adding that Perkasa should not be fingered as the black sheep for Gerakan's inadequacy.

"If you can't dance, don't say the ground is unequal," Ruslan said.

In fact, both Gerakan and Perkasa had suffered major disappointments in GE13.

Gerakan recently underwent a soul-searching process and newly-elected president Mah Siew Keong said the party had considered leaving BN but had shelved the idea for now.
