A building caretaker was charged at the magistrate’s court in Petaling Jaya today with the murder of a 15-year-old girl whom he befriended through the Internet, last week.   

Poon Wai Hong, 23, was accused of killing Ng Yuk Tim in a house at Jalan PJU 1/4F, Kampung Cempaka, Kelana Jaya between 3pm and 4pm on Oct 21.  

Poon, who faces the mandatory death sentence if convicted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, merely nodded when the charge was read out to him before magistrate KB Elena Hong Tze Lan.

No plea was recorded and the court scheduled Dec 6 for case mention.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Saphirra Selamat, while lawyer S Suraj represented the accused.  

Also present were lawyer RS Sodhi as an observer for the victim’s family and the girl's mother Sam Yi ling, 35.

The media had earlier reported that the body of the teenager was found stuffed into a suitcase at Jalan Kebun Nenas, Klang, on Oct 22.
