YOURSAY ‘Malaysia is now no longer a model Islamic country. That image has been completely ruined by extremists like you.'

'For the sake of Islam, stop helping other religions'

Swipenter: Ikatan Musliman Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman is making all Malaysian Muslims appear closed-minded (in accusing the government of promoting other religions for the sake of drawing more tourists into the country).

All religions, except the one practiced in Bolehland, welcomes everyone irrespective of their religious faiths into their places of worship to see and learn something about their religion.

If we want, we can discuss our spiritual beliefs, practices and faith in God in order to foster understanding between ourselves. We shouldn't have any hang-ups about learning and understanding about one another's beliefs and faiths. Nobody is converting anyone just by having some interfaith discussions.

Blindly believing in a religion only breeds zealots, fanatics and bigots of that religion. That outcome is a foregone conclusion.

Proarte: How ironic that Umno-sponsored outfits like Isma speak on behalf of Islam but disgrace the religion and the Malay race at the same time.

If the silent majority of Muslims keep quiet and allow the lunatic spectrum to dominate the Islamic discourse in this country, then do not blame non-Muslims when they regard Islam as divisive, unjust, crude, violent and a diabolical force values based on these comments by Isma.

Malay Muslims must reject organisations which shame Islam otherwise their practise of Islam will be merely ritualistic and meaningless.

Abasir: Malaysians must now realise that this is not a deviant opinion of a deranged fellow but a true representation of Islam and all that it stands for. If it wasn't, there would have been a howl of protest from the adherents of the so-called real Islam in this country.

Their silence at this repeated assault on civilised thought and behaviour only means that this is not in any way a deviant viewpoint. It follows that the contempt and derision of civilised people everywhere for this medieval, fanatical and primitive expression of faith is well deserved.

Sodom Me Sodom You: Abdullah Zaik, are you the cousin of Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali? Indeed, you bring shame to the religion of Islam.

The Middle Easterners are so much more open-minded and receptive of different cultures. It is the venom spun by these people that will be the end of our glorious nation.

There is nothing wrong in visiting a temple, gurdwara or a chapel, Abdullah Zaik.

Tan Kim Keong: Inclusivity is one of the characteristics of a model country regardless of what its official religion is. And precisely because of this value that religious harmony exists.

Abdullah Zaik's definition of religious harmony is one where the practices of other religions are on sufferance of his religion. What a load of crap.

TheSilentMajority: Here is a nobody trying hard to be somebody by being the 'protector' of Islam. The fool can't even read the constitution properly and he claims to lead the Muslim flock.

The only thing that any well-read and schooled Muslim will cringe at is the shallowness of this man, a poor example of a Muslim.

Lamborghini: For your information Abdullah Zaik, Malaysia is now no longer "a model Islamic country". That image has been completely ruined by extremists like you.

Malaysia is now the laughing stock of the world, including Islamic countries after the incomprehensible, illogical ruling of the Court of Appeal on the word ‘Allah'.

Oracle: Spain is a Christian country but has and is proud of its many magnificent Islamic edifices, including mosques. In fact, Islamic architecture is also incorporated into many of their buildings.

Iran allows and has many Jewish synagogues. India is another example - indeed the Taj Mahal is an outstanding monument for all of us to cherish.

It appears that the rest of the world is not confused and embraces diversity. Is Abdullah Zaik saying that if an Arab sees a big Hindu temple he will be confused? Goodness me.

ACR: Is the Sri Sundararaja Perumal Temple in Klang being renovated with federal government's funds? I doubt it. The temple has been in existence for a long time and is not new.

Weren't you one of the those who lauded the recent Court of Appeal decision in The Herald case which made us a laughing stock in the Arab world? Do you know how dumb you sound when you add "modern" to the fanatical Stone Age ideas you are propagating?

CiViC: Goodness, these sort of people should be banished into the deepest caves where all communication with the living should be entirely cut off.

And for Abdullah Zaik, we respect your "passion" in protecting Islam's identity, and for that we hope that you walk the talk, and avoid using, consuming, visiting or watching anything that is not Islamic, or not done or made by Muslims.

And don't ever let anyone see you with a non-Muslim either, otherwise other Muslims would think you have converted.

Absalom: Some people live in a state of amnesia which conveniently allows them to forget the contribution of the various races towards the building of the nation to what it is today?

The Chinese who have worked the tin mines or the Indians who toiled the rubber estates and all those people of generations past who help build the cities and infrastructure.

And now we have many people like Abdullah Zaik who have the cheek to question what little is being thrown down to the minority Indian races considering that the bulk of the benefits and privileges are being enjoyed by people like him. All in the name of religion.

People like him because of their insensitivity and arrogance give their religion a bad name, for no religion preaches these qualities.

Hang Tuah PJ: Abdullah Zaik, have you been to Batu Caves during the non-Thaipusam season and when the Middle Easterners are in town for their holidays?

The place is teeming with Arabs, including the shrouded ones. They even go into the caves and take pictures. I know, I have brought a lot of my overseas cousins there.

Wayan: Abdullah Zaik's words and actions reflect his breeding. This is proof that all men are not created equal. Some originate from the shallow end of the gene pool.
