Kedah DAP has cried foul over the appointment of DAP publicity chief Tony Pua as the head of the committee tasked with sorting out the dispute within Kedah.
Newspapers today reported that Kedah DAP members are also upset that Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari (right) was appointed interim state chairperson.
Kedah DAP treasurer Law Teng Hooi was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying that DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng has no locus standi (legal standing) to appoint Zairil.
Claiming to represent 10 Kedah DAP branches, he said that this is because the Registrar of Societies (ROS) has yet to issue any notice to recognise the central executive committee (CEC), which was re-elected on Sep 29.
He added that Lim also has no power to appoint Pua to lead a dispute resolution team, as the ROS has not recognised the interim state committee, following two complaints lodged.
He was reported by Utusan Malaysia as saying that until the ROS can verify the legitimacy of the interim committee, the 2010-elected committee lead by Lim Guan Aik is still in power.
“Kedah DAP actually has no problems until the cental executive committee sent its representative here. The problem originated from the CEC and not Kedah DAP,” he is quoted as saying.
