A total of 61,859 candidates will sit for the 3rd Term of the 2013 Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination at 773 centres nationwide from Nov 6 to 18.

The Malaysian Examination Council (MPM) in a statement issued in Kuala Lumpur today, said the candidates comprised 60,474 candidates from government schools, 752 from private schools, 623 private candidates and nine from state government schools.

“They are the first cohort of the STPM examination under the new assessment system introduced in 2012,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the repeat examination for the 1st Term of the 2013 STPM will be held from Nov 19 until Nov 25 involving 39,289 candidates, while the repeat examination for the 2nd Term is scheduled for Nov 26 to Dec 2, involving 39,094 candidates.

A total of 75,098 candidates will sit for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) at 664 examination centres nationwide on Nov 23.

Apart from their identity cards, all STPM candidates are advised to bring along their candidate admission registration reports, while MUET candidates need also to bring their MUET Registration Slip (MUET/D) to the examination centres.

In case of a disaster, such as floods or landslides, candidates who have problems going to their designated examination centres are advised to go to the nearest center to sit for their examination.

MPM will also open its operations room which can be contacted at 03-61302666, 03-61369663, 03-61302664 or 03-61302646 from 7am to 6pm.

In KUCHING, Sarawak Education director Abdillah Adam said a total of 38,725 candidates would sit for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination at 268 centres statewide beginning Nov 6.

Of the total, 36,223 candidates were from government schools and 699 were from private schools, while 1,803 others were private candidates.
