With the electoral campaign for the Sungai Limau by-election going into its crucial final lap, Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong tells his MCA counterpart, Chua Soi Lek, that now is not the time to be a ‘hero' to MCA Kedah members.

NONEResponding to Chua's (right) statement that MCA is eyeing the Kedah state exco post allocated to Gerakan, Mah said such talk should be carried out behind closed door, and not openly in the media.

"We are currently campaigning for the rakyat's votes in Sungai Limau and this is not the time to try be seen as a hero fighting for his own party votes in their fiercely fought MCA internal fight, and certainly not at other BN component party's and at BN's expense.

"We must not be allowed to be side-tracked and lose focus," he stressed in a press statement today.

MCA's party election for its top posts are slated to be held on Dec 21 this year.

Mah to meet Mukhriz

Chua had yesterday said that there were two unfilled positions at the Kedah state exco level - one allocated for Gerakan and one for MCA.

However, Gerakan has no assemblypersons in the state whereas MCA has two assemblypersons ready to take these two posts following a reversal of its original position not to take government positions.

These are Dr Leong Yong Kong in Gurun and Chua Thiong Gee in Kulim.

Mah said he would hold private discussions with Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir regarding Gerakan's positions within the state government after the Nov 4 by-election.
