'Better to view Tanda Putera than go to PAS ceramahs'

your say, YoursayFerdtan: We would have expected a youth wing of a political party to play the role of a pressure group, always having idealistic and radical stand different from their elders in the party, who prefer status quo; and in this case its submissive relationship with their big brother, Umno.

Gerakan national Youth chief Tan Keng Liang is obviously an exception to the rule. He starts early groveling on all fours vomiting disgusting comment on 'Tanda Putera', a film that had clearly offended the Chinese.

He spoke as though he, a Chinese, did not suffer the indignation of the motive and intention of the 'Umno's film' to disparage the race he belonged.

In the last election, PAS won by the majority of 2,774 votes. With the Chinese voters of about 1,800 in Sg Limau, they may be significant enough to tip the balance favourably to whoever they vote for.

We hope that the Chinese in Sg Limau will be so angry with such blatant display of racial assault by having free showings of 'Tanda Putera' to the Malays come out to vote in great numbers against Umno's BN.

Old Timer: Tan, what are you hoping to get from Umno in saying stupid things like that, especially even with your whatever level of intellect, you know the whole show is full of inaccuracies and aims to discredit the non-Malays?

CQ Muar: Tan Keng Liang from Gerakan is booking himself a ticket, not to watch 'Tanda Putera', but into the good books of Kedah MB Mukhriz Mahathir.

Being young, and an aspiring politician Keng Liang is obviously playing hero in Gerakan, the defunct party. Upon close scrutiny one will observe he somewhat a replica of his former leader, Koh Tsu Koon - even identical trait in boot-licking.

Hard luck, young punk, I'd bet my bottom dollar (ringgit) you'd never make the grade, and shall soon be a total write-off as the majority Chinese will be too smart and clever to fall for your cheap gimmick.

Odin: Tan Keng Liang, you have clearly shown yourself to be not only a traitor to your race but also an ignoramus, a blithering idiot and a shameless, servile sycophant. During Koh Tsu Koon's time, your party was led by a bunch of idiots. Now it obviously still is.

May: Tan, you are a disgrace to your profession, right-thinking fellow Malaysians and the motherland for you advocate cowardice, strife and self-perseverance at the expense of peace, harmony, truth and love for all fellow Malaysians.

Most of all, you are a disgrace to the founding fathers of Gerakan whose ideals were to fight and stand up for the good of all Malaysians, irrespective of creed and colour.

I wouldn't have minded if he was to urge the people of Sg Limau to go and watch a Mr Bean film, but 'Tanda Putera'?

What has he got to say about the many Chinese who have died in the 1969 riot? Rightly or wrongly, the film is a trash and to bring it up during an election is a pure manifestation of the kind of IQ this Tan has. For sure, PAS will retain the seat.

Umno got absolutely no shame about it. This infamous event started by Umno right here from then Selangor MB Harun Idris' residence and Umno is now blaming it on Chinese.

CiViC: First, if the movie is being screened during an election campaign, specifically by BN, then isn't it clear it's a political movie for BN? So please have BN pay for the production of the money, and not use public funds.

Second, for a Chinese (Tan) to praise and promote the movie, he is surely betraying himself, but his race, his family, his ancestors. Tan, good luck to you. I wish you all the best choosing this road, but unfortunately I doubt there will be any happy ending for you, both now and afterlife.

Third, for a movie that failed miserably on the silver screen, people would rather stay in the 'tandas' (toilet).

YUNoAnon: Excellent strategy. Privileged indeed. I'd laugh in your face if you were in front of me when you said that. I see no privilege in watching that movie.

Is BN, especially the candidate, going to replicate the (in)famy of the characters of the movie? How is the movie being shown relevant to the by-election? None whatsoever. This is just to incite anger.

Kawak: May be all of us got it wrong for accusing our Gerakan Youth leader, Tan Keng Liang, for apple polishing Umno. He purposely gave this statement to incite hatred against Gerakan and MCA, so that the Chinese in Sg Limau will vote for PAS.

Basically: So this is how much Tan is worth, RM10? After all the hoohah in their last AGM, it seems nothing has changed.

Gerakan still has no 'seeds' to stand up to Umno, but will grovel at its feet even when the latter stamps their face in the mud with this shameless movie that blames not just the Chinese, but I believe Gerakan too at that time for starting the riots, when we all know who the real culprits are (Mr 'Oh My Flagpole's Got Pee').
