The number of immigrants, especially those entering Malaysia illegally, has witnessed a sharp spike and PAS Youth wants the home minister to strike hard.
In a statement, PAS Youth information chief Riduan Mohd Nor (right) said minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi must declare a target for the operation to tackle this problem.
“The matter has become very serious and must be curbed before something really bad happens...
“Therefore, Zahid must set a target figure to achieve this and a time frame to eradicate this problem. The target must be made the Home Ministry’s topmost agenda in the months and years to come,” he added.
Riduan noted that the influx of illegal immigrants had an adverse impact on the nation.
Apart from the workforce being dominated by these immigrants, there are also those who have erected houses and even settlements at the expense of the locals.
“A bigger impact is the monopolising of the economy and worsening social ills. What is more worrying is the escalation in crimes committed by these foreigners,” he claimed.
PAS Youth also urged the Home Ministry to limit foreign workers to certain sectors like agriculture and industrial areas.
Apart from this, Riduan said the ministry must also be more vigilant with regard to the syndicates that are issuing false MyKads to these foreigners.
PAS Youth further called for stricter monitoring of the nation’s borders.
