A DAP MP has issued a banner company a "final ultimatum" to name the person allegedly involved in asking its director for kickbacks.

According to Chan Boon Tong, the director of the company, Banner King, the individual, a DAP candidate, had asked for a 30 percent kickback during the 2008 general elections.

Chan was peeved when the MPPP confiscated the banners he displayed last week without its approval.

NONE"We want him to name the culprit in the next 24 hours," said Tanjung MP Ng Wei Aik (right), who is also DAP's state secretary.

"Failing which, all his baseless allegations about DAP, the state government and Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP) should come to an end," he added.

Ng said the party is not interested in entertaining these baseless allegations against leaders and members.

Touching show of concern

If there are any, such allegations backed by clear evidence should be forwarded to the party so that an official probe could be initiated, added Ng.

"We have nothing to hide," he declared.

Ng said following Chan's unsubstantiated claims, Gerakan and MCA leaders seem to have showered a lot of concern on him.

He added that BN leaders had even asked Chan to lodge a police report against the DAP.

"They seem like the real producers, directors and even the script writers of the movie," mocked Ng.

"I would like to even challenge them to lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as well," he added.

He stressed that the position of DAP on this issue is very clear, where the party would not compromise with any attempt at bribe-taking or corruption regardless of the complaints made by Banner King.

NONENg said MPPP had previously taken action against Banner King and the company is not the only one being penalised for not complying with the Council's rules and regulations.

MPPP had also seized illegal banners put by Chan which extended birthday greetings to Penang Chief Minister and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

Ng added that there are seven other companies which had been blacklisted by MPPP for not adhering to its laws.

"But why should Banner King wait to cite an incident that happened 5 years ago only now?" Ng queried.

"It must not be another sandiwara directed by the BN clowns from behind the scene," he said.
