Law enforcement in cyberspace does not comes under the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) alone but also by other agencies as it requires a concerted effort, said Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari.
He said apart from the MCMC, the police, Home Ministry and Islamic Development Department (Jakim) were empowered under respective Acts to take action.
Citing an example, said if print media were to post offensive material online, the agency responsible would be the Home Ministry.
"As for consumers, if they were to come across questionable material, they could report the matter to either the police, the Home Ministry, Jakim or MCMC," he after launching a function at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kuala Ping, Hulu Terengganu.
He was commenting on the arrest of a 17-year-old boy who insulted Islam by putting up an offensive status regarding Allah on his Facebook page in Bandar Hilir, Melaka, last Friday.
Meanwhile, Jailani visited flood evacuation centres in Kampung Tok Lawit and Kampung Perah which could accommodate between 150 and 200 victims.
