Police are hunting for a man called ‘Joemar’, believed to be the accomplice of the main suspect in the robbery-cum-murder of an AmBank officer in Subang Jaya.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said ‘Joemar’, believed to be an Indonesian, was involved in planning the robbery.

“Police believe that ‘Joemar’, is sitting on much of the loot. He is not a security guard.

“We also believe that the main suspect had given ‘Joemar’ the loot and we are tracing it,” he told reporters after opening a seminar on Crime Prevention from the Islamic Perspective at the Royal Malaysian Police College near Kuala Lumpur today.

The main suspect, 35, from Sulawesi, Indonesia, had used another person’s name and fake identity card to apply for work as a security guard.

Police yesterday arrested the main suspect in Kampung Belungkor, Kota Tinggi, Johor at about 7am.

Commenting on the arrest of the main suspect, Khalid said that the police did not find the robbery money on him.

“This means that we have only recovered RM20,000, the amount found on three family members of the main suspect. We are also searching for the firearm used.

He said the main suspect told police that he bought the fake identity card from an Indonesian man in Malaysia.

“We are investigating the sale of fake identification cards including the price, although we cannot access it using biometric devices.”

Police have arrested 12 people in connection with the robbery-cum-murder case on Oct 23.

AmBank officer Norazita Abu Talib,37, was allegedly shot dead by the main suspect soon after opening the safe of the branch office at USJ Sentral 2, Subang Jaya.

The main suspect, who was then a security guard, then scooped RM450,000 from the safe and fled.

On another note, Khalid said Bangsar is one of the areas to be installed with closed-circuit television (CCTV ) cameras and the allocation was provided under the 2014 Budget.

“This is because Bangsar has become the focus of criminals. Police presence in Bangsar will also be increased.”

He said this followed the abduction of 20 month-old Freddie Joseph from his mother’s house in Bangsar on Friday.
