Pakatan MPs cry foul over vanished allocations
Despite the government insisting that it has disbursed allocations for Pakatan Rakyat MPs, the money is nowhere to be found, said Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto.
Despite the government insisting that it has disbursed allocations for Pakatan Rakyat MPs, the money is nowhere to be found, said Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto.
She pointed out that the RM1 million allocation in Pakatan Rakyat states were channelled through state development officers (SDO) but had never reached opposition MPs.
"None of the Pakatan MPs received approval (for allocations) from the SDO.
"More shocking, the allocation is channelled to the Umno division chief in parliamentary constituencies controlled by Pakatan Rakyat," she claimed in a press statement today.
Kasthuri was responding to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim (left) who told Parliament yesterday that the allocations had been disbursed since May 22 this year.
"Pakatan MPs who are elected by the rakyat deserve direct allocations without having to go through BN political parties," she said.
She also reminded the ruling coalition that it retained power with 47 percent of the popular vote compared to Pakatan which garnered 51 percent.
"51 percent of taxpayers who voted Pakatan have a right to the allocation and channelling the funds to Umno division chiefs is a betrayal of the rakyat," she said.
