The federal government could take action under the National Water Supply Act if an agreement with the Selangor state government could not be reached to proceed with the Langat Two Water Treatment Plant.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Maximus Ongkili said the measure would be taken in the interest of the country and to ensure the wellbeing of the people was protected.

"The project should have been completed in March 2014. It has been postponed because the state government has directed the local authority to freeze the project's development order.

NONE"In this regard, the ministry has urged the Selangor state government to cooperate in finding a final solution on supply of water in the state and issue a development order, a planning approval for the Langat Two Water Treatment project," he said.

However, Maximus admitted that talks between the Selangor state government and the Federal government would reach an amicable solution.
