PAS Youth vice-chief Dr Raja Ahmad Iskandar said today DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh had lied in denying that he urged at a press conference in Penang on Nov 5 that PAS be deregistered.
PAS Youth obtained a 24-minute recording of the press conference recently and after going through the recording, it has determined that Karpal did indeed urge that PAS be deregistered.
“In the sixth minute of the recording, Karpal is heard as saying that ‘operating along religious, racial line, is a very dangerous thing in a multi-racial and multi-religious society like this and the time has come perhaps for all racial parties to be deregistered, unfortunately even PAS’,” Raja Ahmad said.
Karpal, according to Raja Ahmad (right), repeated that statement again when prodded by a reporter, while also allegedly admitting that his statement might make his Pakatan Rakyat colleagues unhappy.
“As such, PAS Youth demands that Karpal apologises to PAS for asking for its deregistration,” he said.
He also said Karpal should apologise to PAS also for having “lied” to them.
He icalled on the DAP leadership to take action against Karpal as this was a “clear breach of the spirit of friendship in Pakatan Rakyat”.
Raja Ahmad also warned that PAS Youth would take “further action” if its demands were not fulfilled.
