DAP chairperson Karpal Singh today shot back at PAS Youth's allegations that he had lied about comments he made at a press conference in Penang earlier this month where he allegedly urged that PAS be deregistered.

PAS Youth vice chief Dr Raja Ahmad Iskandar Raja Yaacob yesterday claimed to have obtained the full recording of the press conference and insisted that Karpal did indeed urge PAS' deregistration, something which Karpal has denied.

NONE In a strongly-worded statement today, the veteran lawyer and Bukit Gelugor MP shot back at Raja Ahmad, asking the latter to "mind his language" while at the same time accusing the PAS leader of lying.

"Raja Ahmad should have been man enough to produce the entire transcript which will show that I had alluded to PAS having units made up of non-Muslim supporters who were not direct members, clearly taking PAS out of the shooting range of those political organisations I have directed my remarks against," Karpal said.

He said that Raja Ahmad's allegation was an "unadulterated lie" and that the latter had produced an incomplete recording of the press conference where Karpal allegedly made the remarks.

Karpal also said that PAS should be "grateful" to him instead of demanding apologies through "minor politician in its hierarchy like Raja Ahmad".

"I hope I have made myself very clear lest people of Raja Ahmad's ilk would want a judicial pronouncement on their conduct," fumed Karpal.
