Utusan to Soi Lek: Go before people become disgusted

your say, YoursayNot Smart: MCA president Chua Soi Lek, when most members requested you leave after your video incident, you managed to wriggle out of it and work yourself to power again. After GE13, many members were unhappy with you and requested for an early AGM for a change in leadership, but you smartly came up with an EGM, to oust some figures from the party.

First, this shows how much people dislike you, Chua. Now Umno is requesting through Malay daily Utusan Malaysia for you to leave.

But if you leave now without going through the party election, it will be embarrassing and the remaining supporters will dislike MCA, as this confirms that Umno decides who should lead. So why should MCA exist when others decide on its leaders?

Continue-The-March: Imagine if MCA's The Star newspaper in tomorrow's edition, asks Premier Najib Abdul Razak to resign as he lost the majority votes in GE13 or ask Mahathir's son Mukhriz to resign as Kedah MB as BN lost the recent Sungai Limau by-election.

I am sure The Star paper will be shut down by Umno. But it is OK for Utusan to ask the second largest BN party president to resign?

Where is MCA's morality to continue to be part of BN? Where is the MCA president's face? MCA might as well close shop or pull out of BN and become a cultural or social NGO. Shame on you MCA and stop shaming Chinese Malaysians and stop claiming that you represent them.

OH YA?: The era of Umno is also over. It has overstayed its welcome and the people are disgusted. With only 49 percent electoral support which comes mainly from Sabah and Sarawak, it should quit and not blame others, just like Chua.

EvenSteven: Agree that Chua must go but Utusan should go too. The people are already disgusted with this crap newspaper. Whoever takes over the MCA have to be prepared to lose even more seats in the next general election - maybe three or four - and thereafter close shop.

Lim Chong Leong: Fact is, people are already disgusted with Chua just as people are disgusted with Utusan. They both should just spare us and disappear.

Cala: Like oranges, sucked up and spat out as pips; Barry Wain (2009, 2012) was not wrong to declare that Umno is a political party that lacks ideology, by extension, a party that lacks morality and principles.

From this reasoning, it sees nothing wrong to treat Chua as a "spent force", having made use of MCA as a faithful small brother in the BN coalition who always would say yes to "taiko" Umno.

This sort of 'use when one needs it' and to throw it out of the window the moment Chua/MCA has passed the prime is no different to Jomo's (1986, p.192) claim that the Indians were brought in from Southern India by the British to work in the "slave plantation system" in the late 19th century but denied of any economic development.

So "like oranges, the Indians were sucked up and spat out as pips" (Jomo, 1986, p. 192). Umno now is giving the same medicine to Chua/ MCA. Of course after years of "training" by Umno, Chua/ MCA can only suffer in silence.

Happy Malaysian: Anyone who thinks that Utusan is around to make money is not only ignorant but also childish. Utusan is the mouthpiece of Umno - just like PKR has its Suara, PAS Harakah, and DAP The Rocket.

Umno has been in charge 50+ years and Utusan is their mainstay. So those that expect Utusan to sink, you will never see it in your lifetime.

Dalvik: For a paper that needs its owner (i.e. Umno) to call for government linked companies (GLCs) to advertise in it, we should remind it that the era of Utusan has passed. Don't overstay your welcome or in simple words, do not wait until people become disgusted.

Kamaapo: I thought there was a gentleman's agreement among the BN parties - each party ought not to poke its nose into the affairs of its copartners. Umno Baru is Utusan's boss.

So what the latter says would be construed as the former's opinion. Can in similar vein, Sin Chew, Nanyang, Ming Pau or Guang Ming, tell Najib or other Umno Baru leaders in future "not to overstay"?

What would Umno Baru's reaction be? So lopsided in reality, yet called an 'equal partnership' - one privileged, 'special-rights' set of rules for the big, and a servile set for the small.

Ksn: Chua, get the message? When Utusan tells you to go, get lost, the message comes from Umno Baru. Whether you go, forced to go, do not go but stay, makes no difference to MCA which is a dead dog anyway, to the Malaysian Chinese and Malaysia generally.

Can you point out, Chua, one positive thing that you have done for the benefit of the three parties mentioned above that they can remember you with? So take Utusan's orders, I mean, Umno Baru's. Disappear, sir. You will not be missed, not for a moment.

Thana55: Whilst I am not a fan of Chua, who is Utusan to ask him to go? Going by the same logic, Umno/BN should also go as they only got 47 percent (without the cheating probably 40 percent) of the popular vote. 56 years is enough.

Onyourtoes: Awang Selamat, does it matter Chua is still there or not. As far as Chinese Malaysians are concerned, he has long gone to oblivion. If there is any role Utusan could play, it is to ask Umno and its leaders to go.

It is time for the young, dynamic and clever Malay leaders in Pakatan to take over the helm of this country. Don't worry, without Umno, this country, the Malays and the economy will not die.

On the contrary, you will see the full potential of this country unleashed like never before.

Ipohcrite: It is said that those who are on their deathbeds often choose to repent their sins before they breathe their last. With its dying racist breath, unless of course GLCs advertise more to give it a kiss of life, Utusan has chosen (instead of repenting) to take the noble stand by calling on Chua to quit MCA.

Paul Warren: Wow, these guys are really good. They can tolerate Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil of the cow condo fame but they can't tolerate Chua, our porno star.

Doc: Does it really make a difference if Chua leaves or stays?
